A Cast of Thousands

Well, not quite thousands... yet.
But hundreds... six hundred and forty to be precise.

Yes, I picked up the infantry castings from Griffin Moulds yesterday: boy am I delighted!
Clean castings; they stand up flush on the desk without having to spend hours filing the underside of bases! Remarkable!!

Anyway, here's the lead mountain...

Remember, this is just the first tranche of the project.

And here are a couple of samples I painted of the pre-production castings a couple of weeks ago, just to play around with painting style and colours a little. These are in the colours of a couple of my Pils Holstein regiments.

Right, the game's afoot...

  6. Great to see the figures at last. They look extremely nice. Do you have a painting schedule to predict how big your armies will grow by when? Will the bases be textured or "old school"?

  8. Thanks for all the kind comments, and for your interest in taking time to ask questions... all of which will be answered in the fullness of time.
James - warm up your paint-brush!
Chris G - basing will be textured, and yes I do have a painting schedule which goes way beyond this batch of figures. It's around 6 years till the project will be fully completed. Stage one, which I'll post about soon, is all about getting some game-able balanced forces completed.

  13. Are those figures commercially available?
They look so much like John Ray's and I'd always thought hisnline was exclusive.
    Thanks
