A White Christmas - Austrians!

Well, it's beginning to look a lot like a White Christmas with Austrians (aka Astrovians) dominating the workbench...

Progress is good so far. All battalions have been blocked in, and a couple have been "dipped", plus IR1 (in foreground) is complete, with just base painting still to do, and flags to be added.

More progress as it happens...

  4. Thank you all.
Yes, Stokes, I'm sure they will be able to fight... they'll get chance sometime in the spring, and maybe at a show in the year ahead too.

  5. Looking wonderful Phil. I do very much enjoy Austrian armies and find that they are, despite popular belief, an extremely colourful army throughout the horse and musket period. Have a wonderful "white" Christmas!

  7. Very impressive productivity Phil! Did I miss something because i thought you had said your project schedule was based on outsourcing all your figure painting to professionals? Is there a plan?

  8. Looking forward to seeing their first AAR.

    Most sharp looking men.

What sort of 'dip' are you doing?

  9. Thank you Carlo, Paul, Chris and Murdock.
Chris - there's always a plan! I'm outsourcing MOST of the painting for the mid-18th century project, but not all of it. I'm doing the Austrian infantry myself.
Murdock - I use the middle dip (I think it's called Strong Tone). Just spray undercoat the figures white, block in some basic colours elsewhere (faces, hands, cuffs, turnbacks, hats, cartridge boxes, gaiters and shoes, water bottles, and backpacks), then dip, then add a highlight. Very simple.
