Introducing...
… The Podolski Hussars, in the service of The Electorate of Vaubaria, circa 1704.
Since this is an early period for hussars to appear in, I decided to make the uniforms relatively basic, and leave the pelisses off (adding a wolf pelt to the officer, as was the fashion at the time).
The white rose motif appears on the Podolski family heraldry, so it seemed to fit.
Figures are Foundry.
Flag is hand-painted.
Happy Easter!
Excellent looking hussars, love the white rose flag.

Thanks Paul. I enjoyed painting them... And the flag.

Great looking unit- very striking in their red and blue uniforms.
ReplyDeleteThx Codsticker. The blue is the theme colour for the whole army, and the red/ white details seems to fit a unit with Polish heritage.

They're absolutely beautiful Phil! I love that saturated blue.
ReplyDeleteThx Millsy. I love the blue as well. It's very striking, and sets off other colours really well. It's the Foundry cornflower blue triad.

What a great Easter present to have some new pictures to enjoy. The clerics in the background are very seasonal. Hussars always add colour and dash and these are no exceptions. The trademark water effect is a welcome bonus. Is it true that no lions were hurt in the acquisition of a wolf pelt :)? Without appearing too greedy I look forward to more and feel inspired to pick up the brushes later today.
ReplyDeleteOnce more, thanks,

Thank you Stephen. Hope you are well. Glad you spotted the ecclesiastical theme! Best regards
