Under the Tree

Firstly, a very Merry Christmas to all readers and commenters on the blog.

(Hmmm... these ornamental Christmas scenes happen to fit nicely with my Little Britons!)

It has been quite a year... and I will do a full review in due course.

It is beginning to look a lot like Christmas around here, with the tree up and the kitchen cupboards full and the fridge and freezer at bursting point.

Under the tree, I have three wargame-related parcels (gifts from me, to me!)...

I just wondered if anyone else does this?

Or... if you have been brave enough to trust others with your Christmas hobby list, what are you expecting (or hoping for) under the tree on Christmas morning?

Whatever the day brings, Merry Christmas, one and all!

  1. I had contemplated getting myself a batch of the 20mm Redbox Musketeers as a present to myself. But with a broken collarbone I gave that idea up until there was enough in stock of the other things I want to get the bulk discount.

Looking forward to seeing what you get

  3. Phil,
Merry Christmas young sir. Always have a little present to me 😁 although having my own figure range makes that almost superfluous, however my daughter always likes to buy me a book or 3 and is always good on the list I give her

    1. Cheers Graham. Books are always good... I may have one coming as a gift. Not sure yet! Excitement is killing me.

  4. I bought several books (forget which ones) and had Mrs. Fritz wrap them and put them under the tree. I got this idea from my friends in the UK.

Merry Christmas to you Phil and thank you for the VWC this year.

  6. Happy Christmas Phil. Of course I treat myself at this time of year, this time I got my feet wet in the warm waters of the Pacific - Warlord's Victory at Sea starter set & two expansion sets.
Looking forward to your year end review as always. Stay safe & festive,

  8. Thanks again for your email Phil. In answer to your question I always ensure Santa in some form will bring me some military related goodies I want (need!!?). This year it is the new book on the Army of George II, and the General D'Armee Napoleonic rules as they get such good reports from several respected wargamers I know.

  10. Merry Christmas, Phil! And the same to all your readers!

Many thanks for your blog this year - you have helped greatly to keep the spirits up during this "annus horribilis". (Wretched Spellcheck tried to turn that into "hornbills"! )

Santa/SWMBO always has some "necessary bits" to wrap to put under the tree. This year the postage time to Oz will mean I have truly forgotten what they were, and it is also a bit of a lotto as to when parcels arrive in relation to when ordered. makes things so much easier for all concerned...I wonder if she will be as joyful about the lean-to for her car that I have for Her?? :-D

Jim & Graham, you have done sterling work on that front - much appreciated (sorry to hijack the thread, Phil, but I'm sure we all appreciate their efforts very much. )

As for the larder...shopping the arvo...we generally have all our Xmas preparations ready by 1am 25th December!! :-O Close shave with Santa arriving!

Anyway all the best, and I'll have a "wee dram" or 2 for the team!!

    Cheers, Rohan.
