A couple of years ago, on a whim, I purchased some Front Rank Napoleonic French in bicornes. I just like the figures, and fancied painting them up. I had been to Paris for a few days, and returned with the wonderful Musee de l'Armee in mind, and thought 'well, why not?'
But somehow, at the time, other things took over.
However, a couple of weeks ago, I decided to give them a go.
And so, I present the first battalion, 4eme Ligne, circa 1805 or thereabouts.
Really enjoyed painting them.
So will it be a passing dalliance, or is a new project born?
I hope for a new project! The Front Rank French in bicorne are exquisite especially the reinforcement packs.
ReplyDeleteA mere dalliance, a dance with a different partner.
ReplyDeleteYou've done a great job on these though.
Excellent paint work on those figures. I do like the French in the bicorne but must resist the temptation to go back to Napoleonics.
ReplyDeleteFantastic painting Phil, they look very nice.
ReplyDeleteIt is the curse of wargamers you paint one unit and then you feel that maybe a couple more and suddenly you have hundreds.
Stay safe and happy gaming,
Willz Harley.
Dalliance - been there done that got the T shirt and the battle scars.
ReplyDeleteStarted with a little 1805 French force to complement the rest of my Naps. Then Austrians in helmets, so tracking back to the Revolution. Ooooh, they fought in that uniform in Egypt so acquire mamelukes to refight the battle of the Pyramids. The dalliance continues - French in the KLeber uniform for 1800 and British to fight them.
Will
I like them - and I'm with Will, send them to Egypt!
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping a new project as they look fantastic!
